Child Safety Zone
The Child Safety Zone prevents registered sex offenders from living within 1,000 feet of protected areas in the city. These spaces include schools, daycare centers, youth centers, parks, arcades, public or semi-private pools, bus stops, and other areas where children may congregate. The Ranger City Commission established a Child Safety Zone within Ranger city limits on September 9, 2013 (see ordinance).
Registered Sex Offender Restrictions
Individuals who are required by law to register with the Texas Department of Public Safety Sexual Offender Data Base may not establish a permanent residence, temporary residence, or transient shelter within 1000 feet of any Child Safety Zone. See Child Safety Zone map for restrictions.
Property Owner and Renter Responsibilities
Property owners or renters may not lease, rent, or provide any form of residence or shelter that is within 1,000 feet of a Child Safety Zone to any person who is required by law to register with the Texas Department of Public Safety Sex Offender Registry Database.
Halloween
A sex offender should not leave a porch light on or otherwise invite or entice minors to their residence or location on October 31, or the date on which Halloween is celebrated in the city. Additionally, a sex offender should not participate in any program or event that includes minor participants who are involved in athletic, civic, or cultural activities.
