 Ranger is a city located in Eastland County,  Texas, United States, off of Interstate 20; 84 miles west of Fort Worth and 65 miles east of Abilene, with a population of 2,468 at the 2010 census.
  Ranger is a fine place to settle down and start a business. Ranger has some great real estate for a reasonable price, low property taxes, hunting acreage for lease and sale.  Downtown Ranger has a lot of character and personality, with a little work it could be a big dream come true. 
During the 1920s, Ranger, like nearby Cisco, Eastland, and Desdemona, were petroleum boomtowns. The Ranger Economic Development Corporations work to help bring new industries into Ranger, in addition to helping expansion of existing businesses.
Ranger is home of the Bulldogs, where everyday is a great day to be a bulldog. Ranger ISD is in a small 2A District where the students are involved and take pride in what they do. Ranger ISD offers 6 man football, basketball, baseball, softball, and volleyball. They also offers band and FFA programs. 
Ranger College, founded in 1926, is a two year college, offers an excellent curriculum to students from around the country and is the second largest employer in the community. 
The Ranger Antique Airfield (F23), established in 1928, is the third oldest airport in Texas. Amelia Earhart landed at the field in 1931 in her Pitcairn Autogyro. The airport has two grass runways. 1-19; 2730 ft. x 80 ft. / 18-36; 1950 ft. x 60 ft.
Nearby Lake Leon provides excellent water as well as fishing and boating, with an 18 hole golf course that overlooks the lake.
